Sopranos was rounded up rather hurriedly a year back but HBO has not been able to come up with another series that would strike the same chord with the audience as this David Chase’s Mafia saga did. Fans and critics alike are feeling the void left by Tony, Carmella and Sopranos crew. But we are living in an era of reruns and DVDs which allows pop- culture creations to attain immortality. So The Sopranos has not in all practicality ceased to exist, rather Emmy Award winning series is back in a really, really big way. Tucked into a gorgeous, bound book encased in a jet black linen box, the 33-disc DVD set “The Sopranos: The Complete Series,” has been launched in the market which includes all six seasons of the show.

Priced at $400, it’s even more expensive than my wedding album. Agreed that it contains extra music DVDs and at least 10 deleted scenes, besides, footage from a “Sopranos” seminar at New York’s Paley Center for Media; a trio of “Sopranos” spoofs; a conversation between series creator David Chase and Alec Baldwin a “Supper With the Sopranos” feature, which allows viewers to sit in on two dinner-table discussions among cast and crew, but man, its $400!

As far as I think there is not even a single fan who already does not own at least one season of this series. It makes no sense to me to spend such a huge amount when you can download it for free. Personally I am not interested in watching deleted scenes, coz I believe that they are not worth watching if they were deleted in the first place. Adding music and other gibberish is just a marketing gimmick. Does anybody actually watch it? We all love to see our favorite characters and relive their lives with them. Behind the scene things kill the charm, for me at least.
